Very few of our physicians have signed up to come to Albany for the day on March 3rd. Why is that?
Last year we had 2,000 doctors filling the auditorium in Albany and marching to the steps of the Capitol Building, showing the Governor and elected officials who make decisions and the laws about how we practice medicine, that we were speaking up with one voice.
IT WORKED! They took notice.
That is the very reason YOU did not get any increase in your malpractice insurance!!!
BUT
This July, that ban on increasing malpractice is gone! Not only will your costs increase, but your reimbursements will continue to decrease if you do not demand reform for insurance carriers. Andrew Cuomo has begun to expose them and the momentum is building. We are making progress, but we NEED YOU (or someone to represent you) TO SHOW UP!
Why are the doctors not showing up? Not speaking? Are they willing to sit by and see the practice of medicine as we have known it become undone? Are you willing to let your patients down?
If you do ONE thing this year to pitch in and help organized medicine do something to help you and help your patients, get on the bus! Not only is it free, but we serve you breakfast and lunch and snacks. What else can we do?
We hear constant complaints from physicians that things are not the way they used to be, or that they are struggling to make payroll, or that they could not get authorizations to do procedures they thought were necessary, or payments are slow in coming, or coding has become too complex - and the list goes on and on! We are trying to help you! But the elected officials see us as passive and too busy to care about getting legislatiion to help ourselves. Are they right?
Last year we showed them we were becoming more organized and more vocal and that we were educating the voters about the real reasons the quality of healthcare was declining.
Last year we were SUCCESSFUL! But it was not a one shot deal. We must show up every year! We ask you for one day per year! We ask you to help us help you! We just don't know how else to ask you!
